Skagen, the northern-most tip of Denmark – trip to Grenen

Do not underestimate the distance to Grenen. It is a 3 km walk on road, then another 3km round trip to the tip of the beach. Then 3km walk back. But there are options, see our film. The local bus goes from the end of the high street, and you can then get the Sand Worm. The ships tour will do better by adding a panoramic tour and include other attractions, and the Sand Worm is included. If you walk the 3km, the Sand Worm will be appealing but you need local currency (30DK 2018) and that can be got by a 100DK cash back deal at the shop, or a cash point at the art gallery if it is working. Walking on sand is the other option. It is worth it, Grenen points towards Denmark and was a strategic point of defence in past wars.On one side is the Kattegat Sea (part of the Baltic Sea) and on the other Skagerrak Sea (an arm of the North Sea). It is traditional to walk along the sea, the scenery is breathtaking and attracts artists from everywhere.

If you walk you can take in the Teddy Bear museum, cute, and Ancher’s House. The former is unlikely to be on an organised tour but we have it on film. Skagen is one of our favourite stops.
