Many Cookies are there so a website can recognise your device. When you return the web site then knows you have been before because it can recognise the cookie, not because it has taken information from you. Some cookies will expire at the end of your website session; others remain on your device for longer. This is normal practice.
This website uses both first and third-party cookies. All the cookies on our site are either to aid WORDPRESS or out theme NEWSPAPER work efficiently.
As we do not collect your details, you have no need to have details removed as we do not have any.
LINKS TO OUTSIDE PLATFORMS
We use links to outside platforms like Facebook for our cruise ship chat sites.
We use links to the outside Youtube for our destination and ship videos.
www.DorisVisits.com uses affiliate links. Affiliate links mean that sometimes if you click through to a website and register or purchase something, that site will know we have sent you, and on rare occasions may offer a commission. Amazon is an example.
We use links to Amazon for the Cruise Novels and maybe luggage tags or other items we try and keep 100% cruise related. www.DorisVisits.com is also a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to AMAZON
All other affiliate partners are in some way CRUISE RELATED.
Some affiliates like Get You Guide we use as a service, so we can show the variety of local tours at a destination. In the first five years of this relationship, it has proved useful, but we have never received a cent in commission from them. Our aim is to help research.
We use Weather and Vessel Finder apps. These are clearly labelled. We receive no income from them.
Clicking through to some cruise operators’ own websites may leave a bread crumb to show we have sent them. Doris Visits is often a Press or Affiliate partner which allows us access to media and facilities. The cookies and marketing on those third party sites, we have no control over and they do not report your information back to us. Such platforms do not give us any information about you, nor do we ask for it.
We are a resource centre and the way our site works is you come to us and take what you need. So our data policy is that we hold no details of third parties, we want none.
Cookies allow us to improve our site and ensure that you can book direct with the end service provider and they know that we have been the source of the lead. They know who to tip!
OUR AFFILIATE LINKS
By us having relationships with affiliates, and them knowing you clicked through us does nothing to affect your experience. By doing this you can then book direct with the service provider, no one else handles your booking or your money which, in this age of online fraud and travel agents going into liquidation is something we feel is very important. We encourage you to book direct with the service provider, cruise line or holiday company, but via the links on our site that take you there. That leaves a breadcrumb cookie and in theory, there is a small chance we might be compensated for this.
Random adverts on our site are supplied by Google Adsense system, and this is done via your relationship with Google and others.
