Ken Lennox, guest speaker

Ken Lennox has spent his career working for national newspapers and magazines in the UK and overseas. He is now a very popular speaker on cruise ships. We have been privilleged to work with him and his tales are riveting. 

He is four-times winner of the British Press Photographer of the Year – Royal Photographer, Sports Photographer, News Photographer and Magazine Photographer.

He was awarded The Royal Photographic Society’s Honorary Fellowship in 2010.

He was awarded the Picture Editor’s Guild Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.

His photograph of Margaret Thatcher leaving Downing Street in tears was described by Time Magazine as one of the 50 best photographs of the 20th century.

During his career Ken was a staff photographer and Chief photographer for several national newspapers, including the Mirror, the Daily Express, Today and many other Fleet Street papers, where he specialised in reportage, in the UK and abroad.

For many years he was an accredited royal photographer, travelling extensively across the world, covering tours with the Queen, Prince Charles and Princess Diana and also following the fortunes of Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. More recently he has photographed the younger Royals – Prince William and Kate and Prince Harry.

Ken has covered a number of wars, including Bosnia, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Kosovo, The Lebanon, East Timor, Somalia and also the Gulf War, where he spent six months with the Fourth Armoured Brigade (the Desert Rats) as an official British press pool photographer.

For most of the 90s Ken worked as Picture Editor of The Sun and Executive Picture Editor of the News of the World.

As a freelance photographer he has worked on projects for Hello, People Magazine USA, Paris Match, Bunte Germany, the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail.
