Another cruise line close to home – CFC

Another cruise line, a start-up similar to the now very successful Ambassador in the UK, is CFC in France. It has taken the Maasdam and is refitting the ship as its very own. It will be known as

RENAISSANCE – Passenger (Cruise) Ship, IMO 8919257

Compagnie Française de Croisières (CFC) have acquired its first ship.  The former S-Class, 55,000-ton vessel built in Italy, the Maasdam. It is undergoing a refit at the Damen Brest shipyard. The refit will include the hotel department and the renovation of public spaces. The 1,258-guest will be sandblasted and repainted in most places. It will also be fitted with the latest safety and environmental equipment to meet new standards at sea, plus technical changes to update communications, media and entertainment.

Ecology-wise, the conversion of its scrubber from an open- to a closed-loop system, which will avoid discharges at sea, new wastewater treatment systems and ballast water treatment systems as well.

The ship is expected to sail again commercially in February 2023. Cruises will be to the French market and will be in the ten to 15-night bracket with routes from the ports of Marseille and Le Havre for the Mediterranean to Northern Europe and Atlantic cruises covering 150 ports of call in 54 countries.

It will give an option to those who learned or wish to learn French.
