What to do in Saint Denis, Reunion

Saint-Denis is the capital of Reunion, which is a French territory and uses the Euro.
The islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues, and Reunion form part of the Mascarene Islands but there fall under a different rule, just like Comoros. Reunion follows Paris and in times of COVID lockdown travel to reunion can be affected in line with France.

Reunion, like most Indian Ocean Islands, is volcanic. Here the Piton de la Fournaise is a climber’s destination; it is a 2,632m high active volcano. Another, the Piton des Neiges, is a massive but extinct volcano. Réunion’s 3 calderas (natural amphitheatres formed by collapsed volcanoes) are also climbing destinations.

The island splendours in its rainforested interior, coral reefs and beaches. Reunion imports scrap metal and recycles it into auto parts, metal & steel to export. It also deals with waste paper, cardboard and cartons and pulps it. Its other exports include fish, prawns, cereals, garments & textiles, Basmati rice, vegetables, spices.

We list these not to sell you the tours, though Get Your Guide do have many excellent private guides and tour options, but, reading through what the locals offer you at a destination, reveals what is there. Local tours (allow time to load) as shown by GET YOUR GUIDE. Always remember a ship tour offers the protection of waiting for the trip to return if it is running late.
