GOLDEN HORIZON

The clipper SV Golden Horizon was conceived and designed as a sister ship to join Star Clippers. Operated as a cruise ship, with an atrium and interior that will amaze, the steel-hulled five-masted barque rigged tall ship, leased from the shipyard that built it, Brodosplit Shipyard in Split, Croatia, and is operated by the Ipswich based UK company Tradewind Voyages. Powered by nature when possible, the operators take their environmental responsibilities very seriously and are committed to reducing the ship’s environmental impact.

Golden Horizons was designed by Polish naval architect Zygmunt Choreń for the Swedish company Star Clippers Ltd. who have three others like it. It appears a dispute has caused it to go elsewhere, and change its name from Flying Clipper which it was called throughout the build. At 162m long, with a beam of 18.5m, she has 5 masts, 36 sails with an area of 6347 square meters plus two engines electric engines that can guarantee a maximum speed of 20 knots. 167 crew serve a maximum of 272 guests.
