TALLINN – 14th Century restaurant food and beer – Olde Hansa near the Square

Tallinn is one of the most beautiful cities when the sun is out, alfresco drinking and dining everywhere with much to see. Olde Hansa is a 15th-century merchants house
at the back of Town Hall Square which has staff in medieval dress for that authentic look. Olde Hansa is old German for the old tribe. One of the three houses is a themed 14th Century restaurant with food and beer representing that period. It is like going back in time because they live according to the old Hanseatic customs. The detail of the servants and everything you see, hear, taste or touch has been made to reflect the 15th century. Traveling visitors enter the house and step back in time. The head chef has a team that carefully researches recipes from documented medieval texts. They then blend them with food available today, and the fresh products they source. They also use herbs and also spices that would have travelled to Tallinn through the Hanseatic League’s trade routes from the Far East. The three floors have 300 seats so they can expand to meet demand. It is an ideal place to eat Tallinn style and not expensive. What did you find in Tallinn, tell others on your ship chat site. We had the baked cheese and mushroom soup, fantastic. We had a few different beers, just to taste them. It is worth choosing a different one each just for fun. Water is served for your thirst.
