Pullmantur Monarch (of the seas) – ship tour – Spanish (and English) speaking ship.

Monarch holds her place in history for being the first ever major cruise ship to have a women captain at the helm. Swedish born Karin Stahre Janson took charge in 2007 but has since been joined by a host of other female captains for other operators. This is a great ship tour of the Monarch, now sailing with Pullmantur, she hold just under 3000 guests. The language on board is Spanish, but most people will speak English. It is a great opportunity to have a cruise with children studying the language and have them learn while on holiday.

In a similar way to Empress and Sovereign, Monarch was previously with Royal Caribbean International’s fleet. Pullmantur comes under the Royal Caribbean banner itself. Back in 1991, when launched, the Monarch was one of the largest ships in the world with a capacity of 2,733. RCI moved her to the Pullmantur brand in 2013 where she is latest addition to the fleet, and she was re-fitted and renovated in 2003 to put her in line with the rest of the Pullmantur Fleet. She now sports an ice cream parlour, a modern climbing wall and a conference centre. It has a basketball court and gym, a spa and all the other features you would expect on a top class cruise ship.

When night falls during your Monarch cruise there is plenty to ensure that the day isn’t over just yet. Major shows in the Broadway Lounge, pianist in the Frigate lounge bar, live music in the Rendezvous Lounge or the Cyan Nightclub, It is a great way to learn a second language.
