Millennium Mile, London runs from Tower Bridge (a cruise port) to the Westminster Bridge

There is more to see in this condensed walk, than in many port cities around the world. A British Isles cruise that goes right into and docks next to HMS Belfast at Tower Bridge, such as the one by the Silver Wind (see the bridge lift for it) is ideal. It is even more perfect when there is a couple of overnights so you can walk the south bank in the evening when it is lit.

It is the dream ‘Yellow Brick Road’ with the wizardry of the London Eye just before the end. Taking a trip on that at the witching hour is quite special, especially when the clouds create spooky patterns over the shape of the houses of parliament and the clock tower referred to by the name of the bell inside as Big Ben. This walk has some of the most historic buildings in the world, from St Pauls (2023 is the two-hundred-year anniversary) since Christopher Wren died), to the Tate Modern to the National Theatre, Southwark Cathedral and Borough Market to The Tower of London, from Millennium Bridge to The Royal Festival Hall. The OXO Tower, The Shard, London Bridge Station, the Inns of Court at Temple, and the gardens overlooked by Samuel Pepys House. My favourite guided walk is the Innes of Court which tells of the real Masonic power of London, the Temples, and the Templars.

Not even a crow could fly this in a mile, nor will you walk it in the 46 minutes Google suggests you might. This Southbank walk is actually 2.5 miles, and you pass additional attractions such as The Golden Hind and the Prison Museum. That is if you don’t get distracted, wander up to Trafalgar Square, and lose yourself.

The Jubilee Walkway is a relaunch of the Silver Jubilee Walk, and in 2002 at the Golden Jubilee, the word silver was dropped. The following year the Camden Loop was added which rather confuses any definition, but it might be said to start at Buckingham Place and go to Camden and be around 15 miles. It is essentially 5 loops
