What to do in Sousse, Tunisia on the Mediterranean

If the locals are trying to sell something, it is because it is an attraction.  Some good, some manufactured. By looking at the tours offered locally you can research what there is to be seen. Look at the options below!

Food, aroma, history and music … the largest Roman monument left in Africa at the El Jem amphitheatre is just over an hour away. Visit the last 29th-century Aghlabite Basins which were among the greatest waterworks of the Middle Ages and learn about the Kairouan golden age. It dates to about the year 670, and for Muslims, it is a special place; 7 trips here are said to equal one hajj to Mecca.

You can travel to the other port, Tunis and see Carthage and Sidi Bou, but you are so much nearer to Kairouan it is worth considering a trip there.

Our own films, made at various destinations, try to show what a cruiser can expect. As one person’s meat is another one’s poison, by looking at the film you might discount some places, and decide on another. Cathedral, museum, gardens, town walk …… or beach. We show as much as we can film each time we stop on a ship.

Research starts here. Local tours (allow time to load) as shown by GET YOUR GUIDE – what the locals offer.

Always remember a ship tour offers the protection of waiting for the trip to return if it is running late.
